6800 Overclocking Question

Hi there, just one question, When you overclock a 6800 GPU do you have to overclock both 3d and 2D or just 3D. I heard something that you had to set both the same for it to work correctly.

Can anyone let me know?

I only overclock the 3D mode for the CORE. Some people have claimed their computer locks up when switching from 2D to 3D unless both are at the same speed. Its probably b/c they overclocked too far. But thats just my guess.

I've never had problems with different speeds. Also, some benchmarks will only detect your speed as the 2D speed, but during 3d benching or gaming, it will run at the 3D speed.

The MEMORY MUST be set to the same speed however.

Well, you have to keep them the same speed (memory), you shouldnt have to set them both seperately though.

Depending on what program you're using.

If you're just using the coolbits reg hack. You CAN NOT set different memory speeds. You just set one, and they're both set. Some programs I think will allow you to set them seperately, but it will cause a lock up if they're not the same.
 
Yeah I was using Rivatuner, and I noticed once I change one the other changes as well.
