Well boys I dont have enough money soo, Im gonna go with the 6800 its pretty decent 300 bucks with shipping from newegg.

Im just wondering how it compares to the x800pro.....

Will I get acceptible frame rates with this bad boy in hl2, doom3 .... etc?

I hope I ceatainly will.

If theres any cards better for 300-350 let me know I cant go over that.... :(

It sits right between the X800Pro and the 9800XT in just about every benchmark except opengl where it keeps up with the x800pro rather nicely...

Well Kyle says it performs better than the x800pro in Doom 3 in most cases.

I say wait on the hardocp doom3 hardware guide

are you sure you are not mistakening that for the GT or Ultra. he is referring to the non ultra. in the doom3 benchmark, they didnt have a 6800 in the mix.

Hey Kyle where did the 6800 plain fall roughly without having to dig back through your data ? can't wait to see how my Leadtek 6800 will do

"The feeling it left me with was that it did as good and sometimes better than the ATI X800Pro."

it seems pipes have more to do with doom3 performance than GPU-RAM size. The 12-pipe ATi card brings it down to 6800nu levels, and with better driver performance in OGL, it's bound to perform better

another kyle quote:
Also we tested the $299 BFGTech 6800 and it is a beast....

My 6800NU findings:
[Q]The control panel was used to set the antialiasing level, which doesn't work with FarCry unless set specifically in the FarCry profile (which was not done here)[/Q]

I wondered about what would happen if you DID enable the Far Cry Profile in the nVidia control panel, and then control AA/AF within the Far Cry control panel.
System A64 3000+/MSI k8TNeo/768MB CAS 2.5 DDR 333/Ref GF6800 NU/Windows XP Home

All demos looped multiple times, not averaged as they were always 1.5 fps

UT2003, v.2225
Painkiller v. 1.2

UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Quality":

12X9
Flyby 126fps Botmatch 68fps
16X12
Flyby 68fps Botmatch 43fps

UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Performance":
12x9
Flyby 138fps Botmatch 71fps
16X12
Flyby 73fps 46fps

Well 16X12 4X8x all details maxed is apparently not the optimal resolution for the 6800NU. On the positive side, I think 12X9 all maxed with good framerates is not a bad thing for a $300 MSRP card!

PainKiller, all highest settings, sound on, Quality, 4X 8X

10X7
FPS 29/131/255 (which I take to be min/ave/max)
12X9
FPS 29/107/250
16X12
FPS 29/41/239

Again, 16X12 is not the 6800NUs friend, but 12X9 is very good.
So far, no problems whatsoever with this card. The only time it hasn't been rock stable is the few times I tried healthy (read substantial OCs)

RTCW, Checkpoint Demo:
All game/graphics options set to highest

10X7X32 4X8X: 139fps

12X10X32 4X8X: 133fps

16X12X32 4X8X: 65fps

Hmmm starting to see a pattern here.

Aquamark
10X7X32 0X4X Very High Details: 51fps

Final Fantasy
Set to "High" resolution, had on 4X8X in nVidia control* : 6056
*I don't know if that matters in this bench

Yup, the 1280x1024 res seems the max that this card will go for good performance in recent games. It's due to the 128mb of RAM. As you raise the resolution, more and more texture data will have to spill over into the system RAM -- that's where you see a big drop between 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.

this card should handle doom3 at 1280x1024 at medium texture compression if coupled with a strong cpu
we'll see what kyle's hardware guide says

The only real downer about the card is the 128mbs instead of 256mbs. But if you don't plan to go past 1280*960, it should be great card.

I currently have a 5700 ultra, Will it be a great performance gain? Second If I hold out tell xmas late jan i can probably get the 6800 gt should I do that?

id just wait anyway....prices could possibly fall soon dropping the GT a little closer to your budget....and just save.....but if you HAVE to have it now....then 6800 would do you just fine....in most cases its keeping up or doing slightly better than the 400$ x800pro(but youd be surprised what a driver update could do)......and to your first question it should be a pretty decent performance gain considering your not CPU limited and your monitor doesnt suck......

Indeed, that has the most impressive bundle I've seen to date.

I have one ordered. I'm still not sure what the 14-in-1 game collection really is, is it mainly demos? But with those other 3 full games and cool MSI software, it's still a great package. Usually a package like that is reserved for the highest card like the ultra, so I was shocked you get the same bundle with the 6800nu, make it the 6800 card more bang for your money.

I think if you buy it from japan the bundle is a little different, instead of Prince of Persia they have Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow.

If the 6800LE is $199, that seems like a better deal than the 6800NU for $299.

cool Ive found a cheaper x800 pro for 370 thoughts? and a 6800 gt for 380... high but I might be able to squeeze it..

lol the GT has been stomping the pro in doom3.....but other than that its been just s LITTLE behind in some games or just a LITTLE ahead in others....generally id go wit hthe GT the 4 pipes make it alot more powerful...also they overclock like a mofo

I would suggest the Leadtek 6800NU. I just got one and its a great card. Overclocks extremely well (check my signature), has a huge all copper heatsink and is really quiet. It also comes with Splinter Cell Pandora Tmw and Prince of Persia.
