6800 non-gt pci-e?

Anyone have any thoughts on this evga 6800 card? I was thinking about picking one up since it's about $100 less than a 6800 GT after rebate. The only game I play is world of warcraft right now and maybe battlefield 2 later. Anyone think this is a bad buy?
 
It's a good buy. Although not as powerfull as the 6800GT or Ultra, it's a step up from the 6600GT and definatley not a bad performer. It's suitable for all but the highest resolutions with AA and AF.
 
when I owned my 9200 and x300se I said that same crap. I mean comon those are nasty cards. SInce upgrading to 800xl from 6600gt I wont say neither suck at all but 800xl is a nice step up. Suit yourself.
 
I love my eVGA 6800 AGP...I'd imagine the PCI-e version is just that much sweeter...looks like a nice card to me...at $289 (doing a little shopping around) the price is pretty good too...how could you go wrong?

Wait, "upgrading" from an X800XL to a 6600GT isn't an upgrade at all. You're losing 8 pipelines and 1/2 of your memory and memory bandwidth. How's that an upgrade?
 
i got a Leadtek 6800nu PCI-e and im running CS:S at 1024x768 4xAA and 8xAF with everything on high and it runs great. i was disappointed when i found out that you cant unlock the pipes on the PCI-e card like their AGP brothers, but get coolbits running and see how high you can overclock it. i have my card up to 410 core , 770 mem from 325 and 600 and that got me an extra 2k in 3dmark03. what this card also has over the radeon is the fact that it supports SLi which would leave you with more upgrading options. im impressed with mine, and i say go for it.

If so I would stay away from the 6800NU. I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of these, but after seeing Rollo's benches here http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=881152

The SLI 6600GT's have their moments, but hell the 6800NU's SLI'd aren't all that much better, and the SLI'd 6800NUs are not worth the cost over a single 6800GT. This is seriously where I took notice...the numbers of a pair of 6800NUs versus one GT are way to close...look at it this way...

Spend $350-$370 for one 6800GT, or spend ~$600 for a pair of 6800NUs for pretty much the same performance (look at the graphs). So you just spent about $250 more for the same performance, and then on top of that you have no upgrade path. With just one 6800GT you save money for pretty much the same performance and you still have an empty slot for another GT when the prices drop or you have some extra cash.

Seriously, if you are ever planning on going SLI, just save a little extra cash...it really isn't all that much, and go with a 6800GT. You can pick them up (eVGA) for $350 at the egg or chiefvalue, maybe even zipzoom.

HOWEVER, if you don't plan on SLI now, or later...the ATI X800XL is the best deal right now...its' performance rivals the 6800GT in almost everything and it is just cheaper..about the price of that 6800NU.
 
thanks for the advice. think im heading towards an evga 6800gt since i dont plan on sli and I guessing it should last me a good 2 years.
 
You should get another 6800 NU I have two of them and I can run CS:Source at 1800x1440 on 4xAA and 16xAF, it looks insanely nice. OC in SLI works too...

The PCI-E 6800nu isn't unlockable like the AGP, but it is 256mb, which makes it a great performer at high resolutions. X800XL kills it, though.
