6800 gt temperature

thats pretty dang high... maybe reseat the heatsink with arctic silver or something like that, or get a 3rd party cooler. But thats not too bad if in game it doesnt go above 85C or so

I agree, that idle temp is too high. If you'd like to see it's max temp, leave that temp guage open and run RTHDRIBL. Let that go for ~20 min, and you'll see what your load temp is (if it doesn't crash before then...)

I'd definetly reseat the heatsink if I were you before doing general gaming with that card.

i really dont know what is heat sink and how to reset can u tell me how to do that in detail plz im new on this card setting

If you didn't put an aftermarket cooler on that card and it's the stock cooler then it just sounds like either your case air flow is poor and/or you need to open it up and clean that sucker out! :D

im in warm room without ac maybe thats y temperature is too high

To give you an idea, my 6800GT with a vf700cu and a heavy overclock idles at 47C. Unless you're currently working in an oven, I'd consider your idle to be around 15C too hot.

*ehem*

Seconding that cleaning it out, I was getting horrible crashes while playing Oblivion, the entire screen would artiface out and my monitor would lose its signal, clearly unhealthy. Upon closer inspection my entire heatsink/fan of my 6800gt was clogged with dust. After applying some compressed air to the fan, through the heatsink and under the heatsink I'm back to 380/1070 and running Oblivion with no problems, while idling at 51 in a room full of other running computer equipment.

Assuming you've had that card for a while, seeing as they arn't easy to find, this is probably your easiest fix. Otherwise, it could be a casefan issue.

Hmm I'm having hot temps with my BFG 6800 GT aswell. Idle was at 60c and I did AS3 and reseated teh heatsink and got 62c idle and max of about 82c. I redid the AS3 again but it didn't help.

I just redid my heatsink again and got 75C max so its a bit better now.

6800GTs do run quite hot on the stock HSFs, so unless you're planning on changing your case airflow, I'd say your best bet (for overclocking) would be getting either a silencer or vf700cu. Otherwise, your card should be fine.

i dont have any dust on the card fan its brand new card just installed 2 days agoim now using extra fan and now im getting 57c when on desktop

will my air condition make it cooler then curent temperature?
58c will burn my card?

No, 58C isn't gonna damage ANY card but what he means is you should be getting a better temp. If you turn down your a/c it's gonna make a small difference.

What kind of case do you have and what size fans are you running in it?

I really don't think you're going to drop the temp much more than that. The 6800s run hotter than all the new stuff.

just one small fan on cpu one small fan on 6800 gt card and one fan in psu 400w
and one small car fan im using to give extra air to my 6800 gt

the ac and fan helping me alot now im getting 54c and u said i wont get more then 56 dont talk aobut things u dont know to make me confuse

learn to type and stop calling everyone a liar and they are trying to help you why don't you see that if i am reading things correctly, you have no case fans, so the airflow in your case is probably the main culprit to your high temperatures.

The temperature of the card has a lot to do with the ambient temperature of the room and the case. If you have no airflow in the case, then you won't be pushing the hot air away from the card and it will build up. Also, if your room is hot, that will make the card hotter as well. I have a 6600gt, which runs cooler than the 6800gt and it idles at about 47 and goes up to about 60 at load. If you're now getting 56, you're fine. The safe operating temperature for most video cards is all the way up to somewhere around 80 degrees I believe (depending on the card), so you're ok.

So Mr. Dreamsbetray you... Is this what you call a lie when your temps dropped a WHOLE 2C?

Oh and you're welcome. I'll also say you're welcome for the other people that posted some suggestions.

Here's another suggestion: Don't ask for help you don't need.

It's quite obvious that you're much more experienced and knowledgable than anyone on this site and we are humbled to have the honor of posting your thread. My head bows to you in worship...

I have a good amount of case fans in my Antec P180, 2 exhaust 120's and 2 intake 120's, but the video card still has a hot idle. I went ahead and bought a new hsf combo for it. I got the KuFormula cuz I can use it on other cards if I want. Plus I hear its quiet and thats mainly what I'm going for.

You'll probably be happy with that Ku. I've read excellent reviews of it.

Hey I've been runing my 6800GT at 60C idle for about 2 years and it's still running strong, so I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Anyways Terra whats that things 3Dmark06 Score :D

Don't worry about it, 60C is perfectly fine for a 6800GT, I have had mine for 2 years running 24/7 and its still working fine.

wtf i have fan in my case u think im stupid.i have fan in my case and my ambient temperature is 36c so its not my ambient fault.i will say same thing 2 u which i said to him dont talk about thing which u dont know talk only when u r 100% sure about it ok and dont judge my typing i didnt ask u to read it did i?
did i say learn to clean urself with water instead of toilet papers?
