Im using coolbits and when I detect optimal I get 395/1080.I know these cards can hit 400/1100 easily. But when I ran 400/1100 I was playing the fear mp demo and I see weird shadow reflections after a little bit that doesnt look normal. How Do I know for sure That its not the games fault or is it artifacting? Is there anyway to test for artifacting at that speed?

another question why does my 2d settings change when I turn the 3d ones up? or is that normal?I thought people said overclocking the 2d settings hurts the card

as follow

The memory will stay the same whether 2D or 3D. No problem. The core speed is the one you wouldn't want OC'd for 2D. Not that it's neccessarily bad, just completely useless.

ah ok thanks alot.Also do my temps seem high? 55-60 idle 65-74 Load @ 400 / 1030

those temps are good... if on the low side. how are you measuring them anyway? you've probably reached the limit of your 6800 gpu at the stock voltage of 1.3 volts... flashing a higher voltage bios would let you overclock higher, but you'll need better cooling.

im using the temperature settings that is in the nvidia control panel

How much load did you put it under when you took those readings?

They are quite good for a 6800GT.

Try using a background logging temp monitor and run it over a long session of gaming to see what you're really getting into...rivatuner's monitors do this and I'm sure there are others.

Video Cards cool very fast, if your looking at your temps after you exit a game, your not getting an accurate reading. Run the HDR demo in a window with your temp readings open ;)

I didn't realize that could be done from a simple bios flash, always thougt it had to be a hardware mod. Do you have any links to where I might find some bios's?

Are yiou using stock cooling?

Poor air flow in your case - my 6800 Gt with an NV silencer on it hit 429 / 1200

As for bios flashes you could edit yours - whatever you do do NOT flash it to an ultra bios! you will lose tighter ram timings to loose ones.
