OK let me just say I’m not so good with tech stuff yet I’m still drawn to [H]ardocp.
So it turns out that in order to OC the BFG 6800 GT you need to install something like coolbits 2 which I did. And it seems to take away 16AF, opt not-opt and other things that were in the performance tab.

Anyway I was having trouble with getting OCing to stick and then when it finally worked I tested different setting and got to no AA/AF and high mipmap quality instead of best mipmap quality and got 620/1.40 when I clicked Detect optimal frequencies. Is this normal? I wasn’t getting high OC at Best mipmap and even decided to just manually increase to 400/1100 and test because at Best mipmap with some AA/AF it was hitting like 396-399/1.04-1.06 with Detect. Image setting was always at Quality.

P4 3.2C
1GB 3200 mem.

Note: Every review I read that showed over clocking made it seem like it was part of the default package not another install or edit like coolbits.

620? whoa... not normal man... definitely not normal. Wish I could be more helpful, but I have no experience OC'ing cards (yet ;) )

Ok just did it Detect again with best mipmap quality, 2xAA/4xAF and
once again 620/1.40 is the result. ?

On average people gain around 10-15% on stock cooling with the coolbits reg hack.
For my experience, coolbits never disabled anything I had with the forceware drivers...
so something may be amiss, and that may have to do with your really high detection.

use AID32 or 3DMArk or SiSoft or the like to check the clock speeds
Or don't look a gift horse in the mouth :D
Or put a fire extinguisher next to the rig
or check temps that will tell ya somethin

You can add the stuff back in that CoolBits 2 takes out but you have to modify the registry entries. You can check nV News for the ones you need to change. There is a sticky in the ForceWare forum.

If your just looking to OC and dont need the extra options in CoolBits 2, i would just uninstall your drivers, run Driver Cleaner w/ CAB Cleaner, reinstall your drivers, and use the original CoolBits. CoolBits just adds the overclocking function in the drivers. CoolBits 2 makes a whole bunch of other changes along with it.

You shouldn't be getting higher then around 430/1150 on the GT. You need to thoroughly test your overclocks and take it slow. Start at 400/1100 and work your way up at 5Mhz increases. Then test.

I had the same "problem" happen to me to, I had 600/1400. Was startled! But I'm runnning 400/1.14 stable
