680 sig 2 not throttling?

Hey guys, quick question if you don't mind:

After testing in Assassins Creed 3 for about 20 minutes, I peaked around 76C with the default fan curve. CPU-Z isn't showing any throttling...is it lying? :confused:

The reason I'm asking is because of the many times I've come across reading that the keplar gpu's throttle once you hit 70C. However, I saw no decrease in the clock in either GPU-Z or PrecisionX. I'd rather run it around this temperature range to avoid noisy fans, if I'm indeed not throttling.

I have wondered this myself. I have only seen throttling, down from my usual 1188-1201, the few times I hit 80C
 
Kepler boost mechanic is really voodoo magic. It's supposed to throttle at 70, and then again at 80. but this is assuming you are already at the max boost possible when it is below 70. It's not even precisely those values either. I' have seen mine try to throttle at 68C. I think it's a combination of temp and TDP that define the final value.

The problem is that you're using GPU-Z. It is not reliable at reading on the fly changes, it doesn't register "quick" clockspeed changes.

What you want is MSI afterburner 2.3.1 or EVGA precision. I really prefer Afterburner, it's better overall...anyway, go in the options and enable the ingame overlay and be sure to check that you want GPU clockspeeds monitored. You can see the clockspeeds change in real time. GPU-Z does not do this, it is not reliable for real time monitoring.

Thanks for the replies. Just tried Precision X's OSD, peaked around 76C in AC3, rock solid at 1176MHz. Strange. Can't complain, though.
