6600gt Woes

Hello. I recently bought a BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC and when I installed it into my system I found that my computer wouldnt boot up. If i put my old card in there (FX5200 :eek: ) it boots up fine. I think it may be a power supply supply issue because I dont have any free power dongles so I have to use a Y-splitter. I have a 360 watt PSU. I have tried leaving the card disconnected from the PSU to see if it would boot up, but it still didnt work.
Also, when I take the card out and put it back in and power up, the fan spins and the LED lights up, but the computer doesnt boot. If i retry, the LED flashes quickly and the fan doesnt spin. I need help. Do I just have a dead card on my hands? :(
 
Disconnect some hard drives and CD-ROM drives, as many as you can then try it again.

Make sure to leave the hard drive powered that contains your OS though.
 
Also, if you could post your full system specs (including the brands of your components) we might be able to better help you through your problem.

Windows XP Pro (SP2)
ASUSTek P4SD-VL
Pentium 4 - 3.2 Ghz
1GB RAM
2x Maxtor 7Y250P0 - 250GB
Soundblaster Audigy 2
Sony DVD-RW
Toshiba DVD-ROM

Thats about it I think.

Need to know what brand PSU you have.
 
i had the exact same problem, so i got a newer powersupply (480) and still no boot. what i was told was to listen for a beep from the card. if there is no beep i was told theres a problem with the power going to the card, maybe someone else can elobrate on this. anyway the card ended up being dead and i returned for a new one. check to see if they can test the new one before you come home and have the same problem. also try it on a pc with a better power supply before returning.

edit:
maybe you can unhook a cd drive and a hdd (since you have 2 of both) just to see if the card will boot with your psu
 
Hmmm. I also get no beep from the card. I do get it on my old one. I have alreday tried disconnectiong everything except the harddrive with my OS on it and still no good. I think I'll go to my friends and have him test it out on his comp.
