6600gt which one?

I am purchasing a 6600gt for my computer. I am a budget gamer, and am looking for a AGP card. My next big upgrade will be in January. My budget is around 150-175$. I mostly play HL2 and Americas Army. Or maybe a 9800pro would be more logical?
 
a 6600gt would be more futureproof, I have an agp xfx 6600gt and I have no problems.
 
eVGA and BFG are usually the best two companies to go with. They both have an awsome reputation and I hardly ever hear complaints about their cards.

XFX is kind of touchy IMO. I remember hearing a lot of complaints about their 6600gt's back last year (a batch of cards didn't have enough thermal paste between the hsf and core, or something like that).

Spend $15 over budget and get an eVGA 6800nu for $189:

Or grab an eVGA 6600GT for $145:

The 6800nu has about 6.5gbps more memory bandwidth than the 6600GT so you will be able to use more AA/AF and at higher resolutions, so that might be worth the extra $45 to you. It also has 2 additional vertex shader units. Otherwise the two cards are similar, and the 6600GT is a much smarter buy than a 9800PRO.
 
I just ordered the eVGA 6800, well worth the 15$ more. Unlock some pipes and OC it you will get more for your money right there. But if you don't OC it its still worth the extra money.
 
i have an xfx 6600gt and its a very nice card imo. Mine was a bit noisy because of the fan but i dont know if thats just because of my stupid dell and cookin it up in the air but with the side on its not that loud. Could be quieter but not bad at all. That is my experience though and could just be from me haven side of my case off and dells dont cool very well in my opinion.
