Your doom3 benchmark is 15% greater than mine 65 vs 74.2 but your 3Dmark score is about 55% greater 5900 vs 3800 (roughly). Thats a huge discrepency between synthetic benchmarks and real-world, make you wonder....

Not putting you down, but the XP-M @ 2.5 and 1 6600GT seem to compare fairly well in doom3 for a fraction of the cost. hmmmmmmm.....

I get 2 fps more with 2x aa, something wrong?

But there is something wrong anyway. My rig crashed shortly there after. I have been experiencing system ananomolies ever since maden 2005 was installed, I am looking into it. Unfortunately my kid fucked with my machine while i was at work so i must work out the variables.

The good news is I have raptors on the way and will be going clean install on Wed. so if i dont figure it out i will have a fresh baseline. One other thing, i went beta bios 1003 this morninng after the 3dmark and before the game benchies. I will run the 3dmark again with new bios for comparison when i can, right now i am dealing with a whaling 5 year old because he is not allowed madden for a bit lol. I will keep you posted.

PS : although it scored 72 and change in the Doom demo it hitched badly and its important to note that this bench was not at naitive res for my monitor , i wonder if thats an issue. time will tell. In other words wide sceen could be a real issue since Doom 3 requires a hack no? regarding wide screen that is, gam seems smooth in real world play buy the demo hitches like a mad man


could be 128 meg ram just does not cut it on the demo? I cant wait till the Utlras are available
 
ruleumber one with sli , never run 3dmark2005 while doom3 profile is set in sli cp and abort the bechmark while using beta bios 1003 for the A8Nsli . IT = catastrophic fuck up to os :( i do not recomend bios 1003 beta but thats just me, its a long story with alot of variables including a 5 year old kid
 
update, 2226-1T after reverting back to 1002 bios

3dmark2005 score: 5691

I hear you but you must consider this is a brand new rig and I have alot of tweaking to do. There is some instability with bios 1003 in fact its a cluster fuck, anyone with an A8n beware of 1003beta, trust me. I also have a mysterious issue (error beep one very long) on restart , its intermitant. I am investigating

SLi utilzes several different rendering methods depending on the game. There is a game profile list in the SLI Control panel located in the main nvidia control panel in the performance and quality section.

Figured out the problem (v- core was too low and it had a negative affect on the memory contorller. I am back to bios 1003I suspect my Doom demo score is more inline?
 
Sorry to hijack, but in the opinions of all of yous heres, what do you think is better, dual 6600GTs or single x800XL?

(Im going to only be playing newish games, Like source and Doom3)

Single x800 XL. If you will be playing a lot of CS:S or HL2, ATI is your best bet since that is what they are optimized for.

Nvidia has a slight advantage in Doom 3, however.

For all practical purposes SLI's benefit is best realized only in very high end systems for the most demanding users.
 
I have a Q aboot EVGAs step up program, can you trade in TWO cards at one time? (I.E. you pay $500 for 2 6600GTs (canadian) and then you want to get 2 6800GTs, which would be about an $500 diffrence, can u send in both 6600GTs and then get 2 6800GTs?)

Edit: Also, in the valve video stress test (which I always thoguht was just like A source benchmark, pretty much like playing a source game)

You have to step each card individuall but Yes. I have one of the Ultras on the way, the second one is not ready yet. Oh and I have not interest in ATI cards at the moment so its irrelevant
