6600GT or 9800Pro?

I've been out of the video card game for awhile.

Just smoked my old 9600, looking for a replacement in the 150ish range. I've read good things about both the 6600GT and the 9800 Pro. Which is the better bet? I play HL2, Doom 3, America's Army, and WoW.

EDIT: One more question. Does the brand of the card matter? (ie Saphire, chaintech, etc)
 
Does brand matter?

Newegg has one by Leadtek, chaintech, xfx, Rosewill & a few others.
 
I think many people around here will agree that BFG, eVGA, Leadtek, MSI and XFX are always good choices are generally don't skimp on quality control. I'm sure there are some owners of other brands who could chime in?
 
Not that it needs to be said, but 6600GT no question. My friend has an MSI one, and he loves it. Good bundle as well.

Out of curiosity, how can you place eVGA above Leadtek? I've experienced both, and the leadtek has a much superior cooling system to eVGA's tiny reference hunk of aluminum. My 6800nu idled at like 69C with 325/700. The 6800GT I got from leadtek idles at 46C with the clocks in my sig, and peaks where the eVGA idled.
I guess the stepup program is kind of neat, but still.

2 different cards and chips. you really cant compare 6800nu temps with 6800gt temps.
 
Check out the Hot Deals forum for a good deal on the Leadtek 6600GT from Newegg.

If you're concerned about noise, the Leadtek is a great choice.

I have an eVGA, and it's a perfectly nice chunk of silicon...but the cooler is by far the loudest thing in my system. It was pretty damn quiet really until that thing came in to the picture. Bugger the stepup program though, it doesn't work the way people seem to think it works.

Don't suppose we can get eVGA's electronics, with Leadtek's cooler?

[edit] But nice to know I can expect an end to these damn 60C vid card temps once I get around to replacing the cooler.
