I'm thinking about a new graphics board (just look at my sig :D) and was waondering whether to get a 6600GT or a vanilla 6800. Specifically, I'm looking at the Leadtek 6600GT ($151 AR @ newegg) and the Leadtek 6800 ($188 @ newegg). I guess what I really need to know is will paying $37 more for the 6800 be worth it? Any opinions will be appreciated.

The 6800 is faster than the 6600GT. You can see reviews online if you do some research ;)

I think he knows it's faster ,but wants to know which to buy.
If I were you I would fork up the extra money for the 6800.You will be pleased.

You might even be able to soft mod the card and unlock the extra pipes, wiht a 6800nu with 16pipes and all 5 vertex sharders you can pull number with the 6800GTs. Untill the lack memory becomes a problem in games like doom3.

Its a kick ass card

ohh yea, you cant unlock the pipes on the PCIe flavor of the card

Out of curiousity, is this PCI-e or AGP
Look at the OP's sig. His current card is a Radeon 9550; thus, it's AGP.

In that case, the 6800 (even at stock) is clearly the better choice than the 6600GT.

To sum it up:

AGP: 6800 > 6600GT
PCI-e: 6800 =< 6600GT, depending on revision
All at stock.
