6600gt noise problem

I go to sleep last night as always with my computer running still, and there's always a somewhat loud hum. With it being dead silent in my room at 2 in the morning, I figure I can pin point exactly what fan is causing most of the noise. It's a combination of my stock heatsink fan, and my Evga 6600gt fan, with the louder of the two being the evga.

Ironically, the 3 crappy case fans made little or no noise, and the psu was inaudible.

Can the fans on these cards be removed/replaced/fixed? It's real annoying, and I don't need anything that will cool is drastically because I play maybe an hour of one game a day and my case temps are already pretty cool.

Anyone have a remedy?
 
I would suggest contactin eVGA and see what they can do. The silencers won't be out until the end of the month I believe. Also maybe take it off and reassemble it...might have come a bit loose. Also shut your damn pc off when you go to bed..jebus.
 
I too have the dilemna of my damn loud cpu fans... but since I"m usually downloading something I have to leave my computer on at night as well. I too would suggest that you try to tighten the cooling assembly. Good luck!
 
Is it a pcie or and agp card? If its pcie you can get a artic cooling vga silencer for it.

Zalman VF700-CU is rather quiet at 5V.

Make sure the fan shround (thin aluminum) is not bent and touching the fan as it rotates.If your in an ATX case the fan drops when pointing down so you wont notice it when out of the case and pointing up. Try backing the litte shroud screws out a half turn and pull the shroud edge tangent to the the fan radious out a little. I had a severe problem with an Ultra I owned that was rectified easily in that manner.
 
Ive got the jetart vga cooler on my 6600gt. Can't hear it running over my panaflo fans. Good temps too.
