6600GT down to $184 new

Maybe that would be a nice deal if it was the AGP version, but the PCI-E model has been that price for quite some time now.

Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB GDDR3/1000MHz
1ghz mem speed gddr3, what do you need such power for that is insanity

locutus24,

Your telling me for $184 for that card is not a good deal? Of course it wont be a perfect card. You think that card would be 184 bucks if it was perfect? lol... cmon...of course it wont be a perfect card for 184 bucks....but for what you get for that price, really, im not complaining. Some of us dont have 800 - 900 dollars to spend for these X800XT PE cards. Just thought the 6600GT is pretty good for that buck...just wanted to point that out, thats all...

locutus is saying that the card is insanely powerful. It is for the price, and compared to the one in his sig.

But yeah, like already said... This card has been at and around this price for a few months.

I only have money for a PCI (sig) 5200Fx, and $70 for that was pushing it

spend the extra $100 and get the X800 XL.

its got double the RAM that the 6600 GT has and its got the full 16 pipelines unlike the 6600 GT's 12 pipelines.

i think 12 is good enough, who needs an extra 4 HL2 runs fine with the few i have (sig) 5200Fx pci for life
nVIDIA GeForce FX5200/250MHz come on that is pure power

True, i dont have a lot of money either, and ive been shopping very wisely...by time i decide what i want to get the X850XT PE will be outta date lol. I just wanna get something that will last me and play most games at least at a medium level... honestly im trying to get a good deal on a 9600XT, even though i would like to get the 6600GT, i just dont have the money but i just might get it. and as for the 9800XT that would be nice. Too much though...

I agree... It is just about on par with a 6800GT

I'm ordering one as soon as I go 939 and pci-e, even though Ati said yesterday that it will be released on the AGP bus soon.

Anyone have a rough idea when?

Afaik 6600GT has 'only' 8 pipes.

Yeah, 8. But if the X800XL agp (or pci-e) is ever $300 before the next generation, it will be the card to get. Way better than the 6600GT.

It doesn't make any sense to compare the x800 to the 6600. The x700 is supposed to be its competition.

That price has been around for a while on other sites.. ive seen a few 6600GT cards under 200$ for a while now. As far as the 6600Gt being on par with a 6800nu think again.. to many benchmarks out there disproving it.. I guess if your running at a low resolution you wouldnt know it but bring the resolution and AA up and see how on par it is.

6600GT 8 pipelines no chance of unlocking

6800nu 12 pipe lines... good chance of unlocking the extra 4

X800XL is available lots of places for MSRP right now. But the 6600GT is still a fine card in it's price category and a good choice for those who can't spend 50+% more for the XL.

actually most gt's run at 900 but newegg has made a mistake on almost all of the cards ram speeds and increased them like a 100mhz oops

Ohh once i set-up my 6600Gt, newegg wont be lying :p

You're going to "OC" the ram to its rated speed? Oh my!

Most DDR3 that I know of is rated at least at 1GHz. I have no idea why the card makers would downclock.

I still cant decide which brand to buy from for a 6600Gt, cause when im oc'ing it to 1ghz it needs to be dependable

The BFG cards come already overclocked. The XFX is shipping with a new and improved heatsink and fan. The MSI comes with VIVO.
