This is probably the most frustrating problem I have ever encountered.

As of now I have 66.93 installed, connected to that is SGI 1600w + Multilink. I am having a great of trouble getting both to change resolutions without problems (exampe, from 1600x1024 to 1280x1024 without my monitor just giving me a blank black screen. ) The way to get around this it to set my monitor power setting to "Turn off monitor in 1 minute", so that the monitor turns off (orange power light for this monitor). Upon moving my mouse to wake the monitor up, the new resolution becomes set.

Now if I were just working in 2D mode, it may be a minor hassle to do all that but, when trying to play 3D games, this is work-around does not work. Any change in resolution seems to give me a blank black screen. However to note, is that monitor is not going out-of-sync, since the monitor is able to show the resolution after going back from sleep mode.

Before this, i had ATi AIW 7500 which had worked flawlessly. Is this just another bad example of nvidia's poor DVI implementation? Can anyone help? I am pretty sure there is an option to totally force adaper reset or something for each change in resolution (like forcefully make the monitor sleep and wake up with each resolution change) If there are any programs or options in coolbits, rivatuner, powerstrip or anything please help.

If it is any consolation, you are not alone. I know of at least two others having the same problem. For the longest time I thought I alone is having this problem. Now I am debating if I should just chuck the SGI 1600sw and get a DELL 2005FPW (waiting for the next big DELL monitor sale.)
