which one of these is better? my firend has the 6600 and he says his is better, buthis was cheaper and we bought our cards off teh same website.

the 6600gt is a better card for framerates but I think the Pro is better for quality. ATi always seems to have better quality over Nvidia but nvidia takes the FPS crown in this race

This is highly disputable...ATi has a couple of AA modes that may give them a slight edge...but no normal user would ever know the difference...and even the hardcore types find the differences in quality highly subjective and mostly just a matter of opinion...

Quality between the 6800s and any r300 based ATi card is virtually identical by all accounts...

If anything, the 6600GT will have superior IQ because it is capable of SM3.0 which is capable of inhancing the user's visual experience.

6600GT will overalll win without contest. The only area that the 9800pro beats the 6600GT is in memory bandwith due to it's 256-bit memory. The 6600GT only has 128-bit memory clocked at 900Mhz :( (that's not even very far ahead of the X600 series). Personally, I find it amazing just how well the 6600GT performs considering that it is crippled with such a small amount of bandwith.
