when i first got my 6600 last week (i had the p5w since may) it would boot at no higher than 375mhz fsb. it would run much jigher than that, but it had to be set with clockgen in windows. without a bios update, or any changes in bios except for the fsb speed, the next day it was able to boot at 400mhz. a few days after that, same thing, no bios updat, no changes, and it was able to boot at 412mhz. just for the hell of it i bumped it up last night, and now it will boot at 420mhz. i dont know how stable it is, but i played f.e.a.r. combat for a few hours without issues. i have not had temp problems, so its not like my as5 cured and now i am running much cooler. could a cpu possibly get burned in, and if so, could it be burned in this quickly?

before a cpu is shipped, it has already passed temp. cycling (burn-in)

i guess i will have to find another reason for thses magical events. also, i just tried setting my memory manually, which i couldnt do before. it had to be set on "use spd timings" or some such or it wouldnt boot. now its running at 4-4-4-12.

What's wierd is my e6600 that I was in here complaining about a couple weeks back about how it wouldn't overclock above 2.7Ghz without getting errors in HotCPU...is now running @ 3.2Ghz with 1.4v to the CPU, auto on everything else, except memory I set to manual and actually decreased my CAS speeds from 6 to 5 (which I believe is faster), and now it's perfectly stable in HotCPU and gaming @ 3.2...hell I bet I can even hit 3.4 if I tried right now. Very strange indeed.

no same bios. thats why i cant figure this out. the first night i had it no way would it boot over 3150mhz (9x350). at any vcore. now i dont know if it would pass 8 thosand hours of dual prime, but now i am 3d stable and game stable at 3760. its going up a couple hundred mhz clock speed every few days. maybe in a few months it will be up to infinity mhz.

That is quite a f***ing jump man, congrats. I've been folding with my E6600 so it has been 100% CPU for a while now, but I haven't experienced any improvement. Still can't get over 3.2 with <1.5 Vcore
