660 TI

first off you you need to list ALL your current specs including power supply and resolution that you want to play at.

and don't even consider the 660ti with the crappy reference cooler especially when non reference models are the same price or cheaper. the gigabyte has slightly faster clocks than the asus so its slightly faster out of the box. not enough to notice though and with overclocking it is anyones guess which will be faster and they will likely still end up being about the same anyway.
 
All of those are good cards. I would say if you're running one and not planning on sli later on, I'd probably grab the Gigabyte card. If you plan on SLI, go refrence. I made the mistake of buying one non-refrence and when I paired it with the same card, my temps went through the roof. Refrence is good for multiple, non-refrence for single, and if you're playing higher than 1080p and want single, I would get a GTX670, or 7950 instead.
 
Do you play any games that have PhysX capability and is this a feature you want to use? If so, I recommend a non-reference cooler model from Asus, Gigabyte, Galaxy, or MSI.

If PhysX is not something you'll ever use, then go with a 7950 from the brands listed in my previous sentence.

ty but you left out resolution that you will be playing at. I assume you are at least 1080 so I would go with a 7950 or 670. pretty much any non reference 670 is good so just go with what has the best price if you go that route. as for the 7950 then I am sure someone can give you some good suggestions.

We don't know the whole story yet...number of monitors, resolution, applications used or games played. The 660ti isn't exactly a slouch for 1080p and even 1440p in some situations, plus there's always the probability the OP is getting 1 now and a 2nd sometime down the road for SLI.
 
Only reason I would say get a 7950 over a 660ti right now is because you get 2 free games with the 7950.

Otherwise. If I had my choice. I would so go with a 660ti. Iv seen them as low as $269 now
 
at USD 300 get the sapphire HD 7950 boost. 925 mhz boost clocks. stock voltage of 1.25v. unlocked voltage. 1150 -1200 mhz with voltage tweaking is quite common. good cooler. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 5% slower than HD 7970. HD 7950(1100 Mhz) matches HD 7970 Ghz(1050 mhz).

The 660ti runs 2560X1600 just fine too. Runs in SLI even better. I got proof... my rig. LOL
 
sorry but a single 660ti is a turd at 2560 for demanding games. heck even at 1920, many settings have to be turned down if you want to stay anywhere near 60fps in those demanding games. most people give the 660ti way too much credit because for its full retail price, its not impressive at all.

We need to find out more from the OP regarding his monitor setup and uses. It may be that the 660ti will fit the bill perfectly. It may be that the 7950 would be the better choice. At this point, it's impossible to recommend one over the other.

Sorry, edit. I just realized you said single 660ti. For sli it's a great card. Beats out a GTX680 by far.

Nobody said 60fps anywhere. Some people don't care much...

But if you're talking about FC3 or Crysis3, then a single 660TI make it barely to 1080p @ 30fps maxed out (with light AA) so 2560 is out of the game unless you play only direct console port, or drop the detail to Medium

In SLI it's another thing tought. The 660TI SLI often beat the Titan at 1080p (don't know at 2560) in some demanding game, as long as the game support SLI..
 
I got the ASUS GTX660 TI-DC2-2GD5 3 weeks ago and I'm very happy with it.
I installed Geforce Experience so it would optimize the settings for some of the games I have and it plays great. I installed Crysis 3 this past weekend and it's beautiful at 1920x1080, I'll screenshot the settings I used when I get home. I didn't notice any slowdowns or anything.

I got the card for $259 after rebate and then sold Assassin's Creed 3 that came with it for $15 bucks on here, so paid about $255 after taxes, rebate and AC3 sale.

I have one week left before I have to keep the card, 30 day return policy... I might go ahead and step up to the 670 to future proof myself alittle more. I'm contemplating a 2560x1440 monitor... Monoprice and I think one step up will make the card last alittle longer.
 
fyi, using the geforce exp settings, I get about 45 fps avg
