Are there any 65nm Xeons with or without duel core

Also what is the heat reduction with the 65nm vs. 90nm

Any info would be great

dual core 65nm process Xeons will use more then 130 watt/CPU and have 2 MB L2/CPU as well as dual independant front side busses. They will launch with speeds as high as 3.74 GHz and perform quite well as the CPU is not bottlenecked as much as it was before.

Dual Core 90mn = (not sure if there is one)
Single Core 65nm =
Dual Core 65nm = 130watt
 
Presler is the code name for the desktop Dual Core, the Dempsey Dual Cores will come with DIB.

They are quite a bit better as the DIB allows each Dual Core to access a 1066FSB which helps alleviate alot of the memory bottlenecks.

They also run cooler then the Paxville based processors on 90nm node. Though they still emit quite a fair amount of heat.
 
Dempsey will be 65nm Dual Core with HT procs running at 1066fsb. While they are built around 65nm, they use a considerable amount of power, not to mention the fully buffered dimms which suck the power as well. What you want to look out for is Woodcrest which is based on the Merom/Conroe series of procs. Those will generate very little heat, though you will still be using FBDIMMS.

FBDIMM is not that bad. They run a bit hotter and use a bit more power the Intel would like, but it's the first generation of FBDIMM. FBDIMM is also easier for motherboard makers b/c it only uses 69ish of the pins as opposed to the 240 that DDR2 uses.

A bit hotter and a bit more power is a bit of an understatement. We're working on getting those numbers down, hopefully by launch they will be. :D

Prescott 670 3.80Ghz (90nm single) = 115W
Smithfield 840 3.4Ghz (90nm dual) = 130W
Cedar Mill 3.80Ghz (65nm Single) = 95W

really? I've seen fans cooling the FBDIMM and such. What is Intel doing to lower the power consumption and the heat?

So there goes the PM i sent you :D But i guess it's good to know that Intel is striving for excellence. In your opinion, in the near future, will Intel be very competitive? And do you recommend Conroe being that you used it? I've heard your comments on Merom but not conroe.

I think Q3 will be VERY exciting. Conroe is an amazing performer from what I have seen, and if you look in the SMP forum at the thread asking everyone to benchmark their Dually you can get a taste of Dempsey. I think AMD is gonna get bitch slapped this year. :D

not yet. probably when Nehalem comes that's the time Intel will be on top of every benchmark.

I've seen the benchmarks, but everyone is complaining about power consumption and such. I heard Intel is going to release a 3.73 GHz XeonDP Dempsey. That's going to be interesting.
