64 bit vista

The standard route is to order it form MS. The route that's quickest and easiest is get your hands on an x64 Vista disc and use your same key.
 
seeing as I own vista 32 bit and 64 is free, would it be unlawful to download a 64 bit version through the various torrent sites?
 
That would be fine to do, but it is quite likely, you'll get a malware-value-added version by doing so.

If you have a retail version, spend the $10 for a legit disc. If you have an OEM license, go back to your OEM for the x64 media.
 
If you can find a retail version of 64bit Vista on a torrent site then it will work fine, but almost all of them are some stupid patched version that disables activation rather than a pure retail ISO. And its quite unlikely that youll get malware from a torrent unless you get the one labled "Vista 64 bits.exe" with 1 seed and is 65kb.

I dont know why MS doesnt let people download it like they let people download the betas, $10 is bullshit for just "shipping"
 
You could probably find the uncontaminated ISO released to MSDN/Technet subscribers in "the usual places" (ooh, arr, Jim lad) without too much trouble, and you can match it to the correct MD5 checksum (also easy to find, eg on the Neowin forums) if you're still a bit dubious.

I'm not 100% sure of the strict legal position, but AFAIK all (genuine) Vista discs are the same anyway, and if you've already paid for a licence then morally speaking I don't see there's a problem. :)
 
ok so I have vista but I can't find a 64 bit version of my rampage formula drivers... anyone understand that ASUS website? I have the install disk but it doesn't make it clear if it has 64 bit drivers installed on it. I put the disk in and it just has like an install drivers wizard. it doesn't say if it will install 64 bit if it sees a 64 bit OS.
 
What are the rampage formula drivers? If they are some kind of combo set then just go to each individual manufacturer for the drivers. If it's an Intel board just download the latest Intel inf driver set for that chipset from www.intel.com, etc.

1. Go here http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
2. select "Motherboard"
3. select "Socket 1366"
4. select your motherboard
5. click on "Search"
6 select OS: Vista 64bit
7. download your drivers

 
would these be the drivers
Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility V8.3.0.1013 for Windows XP & 64bit XP & 32/64bit Vista(WHQL).

Rebel I don't have rampage 2 I have 1 so I just went to LGA775
 
Looks right to me. It should be pretty straightforward if you do what Rebel posted (except for your board) Just look for the one that has 64-bit under what you need.
