So I got a nephew that really wants a PC. He wants to build it and it would be his first. He has saved about $400 and he is only 14. He's a really good kid and his parents aren't poor but are lower middle class. I'm looking to help him out a little. I really dont think you can do a decent gaming puter for 4 bills, so I thought maybe I could help him out a bit. I seen a few sales going on and through together a quick 600 parts list. I haven't built anything from scratch in a few years so what do you guys think. Are there better options and/or anywhere to save money?

I'm pretty sure the case and mb/2600 combo cant be beat, so I will likely order them today. Eventually the 2600 could be replaced with a 3600 for more HP.

$60 NZXT H200 Mini-ITX PC Gaming Case w/ Tempered Glass Panel (White)
$210 Ryzen 5 2600 Processor + ASUS Prime X570-P AM4 ATX MB

$150 MSI Radeon RX 580 ARMOR OC 8GB GPU after $20 rebate

Below are mostly regular pricing I found with quick search on Newegg

$55 Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4
$75 CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000
$50 EVGA 500 BT 100-BT-0500-K1 500W 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Non-Modular

$15 Windows keys are sold here on the site and I got one for a NUC awhile back and it's fine.

$615 total with Win10 ket and after $20 rebate on RX580

I may even consider some used components...

I have an extra 24" Asus monitor I'm not using so that will be part of the package..it has speakers built in which will get him up and going.

Anything I'm forgetting?

well, your case says "mini-itx" and your motherboard is ATX.... so that won't work, MB will be too big for the case. Either get a bigger case or a smaller ITX motherboard. I wouldn't suggest a X570 either, a B450 or even a 350 would be cheaper and just as suited. B450 ITX motherboards are readily available and cheaper than any X570 option

I'd also try to find 3200 DDR4 ram if you can

Duh, cant believe I didn't even notice case was mini. The 2600/mobo combo was such a great deal at 210, I just thought it would help future proof it for a year or two. A 450 ITX and the 2600 still showing about 200 on parts picker. Did find 3200 mem for same price though. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m6DbsZ
