6 pin PCI graphics conversion bad?

I am thinking about getting a new power supply, but can't afford a unit with two 6 pin PCI graphics power plugs on it (i want to spend around $100). I have found some units with one 6 pin, but i plan on having 6800GT SLI. Does using the little dongle to convert from molex connectors affect overclocking performance? Keep in mind that i have lots of case fans so i will not be able to devote two completely free molex connectors to the graphics card.

Also, i plan on getting a supply with dual 12 Volt, with a combined minimum of 30A, and a total of around 500W from one of the good manufacturers.
BTW, what voltage should have lots of amps if i plan on running SLI? i get the impression that the PCI express graphics cards usually draw most off the 12Volt. If i am totally wrong, please correct me.
