6.5 ghz...?

At the risk of sounding like an asshole, why is that impressive? Is that the highest?

See thats why I didn't want to ask, I knew I'd get a sarcastic comment.

My question was purely curiosity, after hearing Intel P4s hitting 8GHz or something.
 
That's nothing new...I get temperatures of -240 C on my TRUE-120. ;)

That P4 was a single-core. Apparently, this is the highest clock ever achieved with a quad-core CPU. I say apparently because I haven't actually seen any proof that this is the highest.
 
Not to downgrade the topic but on the xs forums there are a number of people hitting the 6ghz + mark and they're fully validated with cpuz

Okay that explains it all, and now it's making sense. That is impressive! And what, a 965 on liquid helium couldn't hit 6.5 I'm guessing?

Comments like this make me want to grab a wc setup for my Q9550.

As for the thread, the record for phenom 2 if i recall is 6.7ghz.
 
i7 is coldbugged, hence it cant even handle LN2 let alone liquid helium

and 6.5ghz is the highest quad core frequency yet...the 6.7ghz was a fake
