5ms versus 8ms - noticable difference?

I'm looking into buying a new 20.1 inch monitor - a nice upgrade over my 17in Planar LCD.

I am considering this monitor:

But I noticed that there is a fairly cheap 5ms monitor with equally good reviews and style:

Is that 3ms drop noticable? What precisely are its advantages? Also, while I'm at it, are those good considerations for monitors. The BenQ is so cheap and reviews are great - same with the Samsung - but am I sacrificing much performance?

Thanks in Advance,
JS

I think the biggest difference you will first notice between these two monitors is that one of them is widescreen, and the other is not. :D :D

Regarding the timings, I doubt you would see much dif betwen 8ms and 5ms, but the 5ms obviously has less chance of showing ghosting. They are both TN panels, so both are good for gaming, I guess it boils down to aspect ratio to pick which is best for you.

grey to grey is not what you need to worry about, but white to black - on to off.

I had the fp202w for a few days and returned it. Ghosted way too much considering it's "supposed" to be a 8ms panel.

I personally would consider it closer to a 16ms monitor.

Most 8ms panels are good, but that particular one is quite bad for ghosting in my experience.

that refresh rates are like horsepower, so give or take 10, no need to compare 5 to 8 numerically
