I have been reading alot about some of the latest and greatest, the kodak LS753 looks nice so far.

Im looking to spend ~$400
CCD is a must ( gotta have that quality)

what do you guys recommend?

the ccd image sensor, vs the cmos. I have read that with a ccd the camera will delever better color/quality.

Most cmos cameras with bad quality are the crap $30 digital cameras from no-name companies like sipix.

CMOS is more often associated with Canon DSLRS, which in fact have the best image quality due in large part to their CMOS sensors.

In the price range you are looking at don't even worry about whether the camera has a CCD or a CMOS, because if you find a CMOS camera for $500, it is most likely an EOS camera which means it will have image quality that will blow away anything else in that price range.
