So i have an old 5970 laying around with that dam rattling issue, was thinking about putting it an old computer. So my question is should i buy a new heatsink fan are try to sell it and get a new video card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to mention that i cant stand that dam noise and if it was worth spending money on a new heatsink fan.

knowing how effective this unit is with the good games at this time repair would be on my schedule

What exactly is this rattling noise? I hear a slight rattle, too, but it's not very loud. It doesn't happen all the time on mine, but when I do hear it, it's very faint and while faint, is annoying. Is that what you're experiencing?

At certain lower rpms i can hear it clearly, it sounds like the fan is loose and gonna fly off. I guess I am on the hunt for a good aftermarket heat sink fan, any recommendations?

Ah, ok, yeah, mine also sounds like a fan is loose or it's rubbing against something. It's not very loud, though, but is noticeable enough where it become annoying. Sorry, no clue about heat sinks. I'm looking to replace my 5970 when the next generation AMD/Nvidia cards come out.
