5970, driver has stopped responding

Hi all,

Seems that most driver versions for my 5970 end up having issues with windowed 3D Games where I get the whole "driver has stopped responding" issue in Win7; 10.4 seemed to not have the issue, until now....10.5 and 10.6 crashed often, 10.4 takes a few hours for it to happen.

Anyone seen something similar? I'm not even running CCC anymore, I dumped that and only installed the driver but I STILL have these issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, temps stay below 60C. Full screened games do not have this issue. Also, installing newer AMD drivers usually results in a BSOD while booting; I have to manually go into safe mode and remove the driver.
 
10.6 seem to be a mess for everyone. I got grey screen freezes as well.

10.5 is fine though, not crashes with it for me. 5970 here too.
 
Same here. 10.6 kept crashing games.

10.5, yet to see any issues with it. 5970 as well.
 
So....tempted....to....install.....my.....GTX280!

/me wants stable drivers.

I fiddled long enough that 10.6 seems to be running semi-stable again.
