No need to upgrade to this one for me, but I did have to use 596.36 for Conan Exiles...

Has anyone had "black screen when in focus" issues in games? It seems like since this update, I've run into several games both older and more recent that either booting a game or within a second or two, the screen goes black. Audio and the rest seem to be fine, but its only visuals affected. Alt-Tabbing to another application and then either mousing over game in question to see its preview window or otherwise allowing you to view the window when not in main focus shows the game's proper graphics - its possible to say, mess with the Options menu in a game by checking your cursor position when out of focus, selecting the application, and then remembering "Press down 3 times, then left 3 times, press Enter, in order to select Resolution, step down to 1080p, and apply the new setting"., alt-tabbing + hovering after each change to see that your cursor moved as it should. I should mention that at least with one game, changing to Windowed mode did NOT resolve the issue - it still had the same black screen when in focus, yet visibility on previews and the like.

So clearly the title is rendering but there's some sort of error in some, but not all games. I am thinking this issue arose since the new drivers. I'm going to attempt to reboot the W10 install just to check ; NV driver update haven't acted wonky without doing so in recent years, but I figure I'll do so anyway. Has anyone run into something similar?

With both of the last 2 drivers I've noticed that using the HDR toggle (Win+Alt+B) sometimes causes my screen to go black and just sit there. The "HDR" logo in the corner of my TV turns on, but it just kinda hangs. Toggling in on/off a couple times seems to fix it. That started 2 driver releases ago.

Hmm, may be a good lead. As far as I know I've not activated any HDR modes on any of the games (one of them is significantly older and I'm pretty sure has no HDR mode options), but I am using a TV (LG C2 42", thereby HDMI connection) so maybe that's part of the issue. I notice that so long as I return to the desktop or any other program in focus it seems to be fine, but not the actual game itself I'll try the HDR toggle key combo just in case and see what happens, but maybe its just some part of the driver's error. The previous driver kit I had where I think everything worked fine, was from Jan 2026, 591.86. If it comes down to it I'll try a rollback I suppose?
