5900xt tv-out not working when driver is installed

Ok.. this is very annoying. When I install the lastest or an old driver for the 5900xt, windows wont see my tv through the s-video out. If i uninstall the driver, the signal goes to the tv and my monitor, but the resolution on the monitor is terrible because no driver is installed. I've tried many drivers, none give me tv-out. There's an option to select if windows doesnt see the tv, but it doesnt do anything. While the computer boots, it sends a signal to the tv, until windows starts, then the signal to the tv stops.

The card i had before this was a ti4600, and the tv-out worked fine with it on the same comp and tv.
I'll post back once i try getting tv out to work on knoppix
