I have a chance to buy a eVga 6800 NU for a great price (co worker bought it and realized it was not a GT..... ;) ) so he bought a GT and is going to sell me this card for 225.00. I know that is a great price, and I have been holding out for a GT, but this seems like a pretty good opportunity, and a great value considering the poosibility that you can soft mod a NU to a 16 pipeline, still small on the ram and speed though. Let me know what you guys think.....I currently have a 5900XT, and it seems to do the job in my games, just not where I would like to play them.

it will get it where you want to play them but it doesnt leave as much head room like the gt,ulta, xts etc..

I would snag it up quickly...before he comes to his senses...the 6800nu will kickass on a 5950 ultra...so you should see quite an improvement over your 5900xt!

I'm confused as to why there would even be a question of which one to get.

It all depends on where you are comfortable at...

Since you are saying the 5900XT is not giving you enough, I am pretty sure the 6800 NU will for now, but how long down the road do you want to keep this card. Also are you wanting to play your games at 1600 x 1200 with AA and AF. If that is so, I would actually say pass, and go for the GT like you were waiting for.

I'm wondering the same.

b1NARY73, it doesn't take but the synapse nessessary to move your arm with a wad of cash in hand equal to the value of $225 towards the subject who wishes to sell that 6800NU card to you. All other thought processes should be null and void.

I have a 5900XT for sale :p I am going to register this bad boy today, I have the original receipt, so I can do the trade up program within 90 days and get a 6800GT. I can not run any higher than 1280 X 1024, my 19" LCD will not go any higher, so this game is playing Far Cry and D3 like I wanted it too, smooth and silky. !!!! :D !!!!<------Very Happy! Thanks for all your comments, it help make my descision easier.
