I decided to try to make my 5900 quieter by using a single 80mm panaflo fan vs. 2 small ones in my BFG. I removed the chrome cover and strapped the fan on using cable ties thru the screw holes in the copper. I also used some arctic silver on the ram and gpu. It seems quieter now, but my temps are higher by a degree or two. Do you think that it's because I'm blowing air onto it as opposed to drawing it off? Anyone else try something like this?

Replace the whole thing with a Zalman. Can you do it on the BFG btw?? Does it have mounting holes close to the cpu?? Check plz.

That puppy runs real hot especially if you OVCLK!

Rip the junk off and put on a real cooler:D

I did a lap dance on mine (GPU and and HS)
and put a zalman HP with a cooler master fan strapped to its side Got temps runnin 48c at 524 core and 970 mem, 23c room temps
running DX9 Real-Time High-Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting
(really stresses GPU) for 30 minutes.

Tried AS3,AS5 and cerimique all temps were within 2-3c

Why not use the fan Zalman supplies optionally? You can always mount two of them if one is not enough.
