58xx Flickering gone?

Hey guys. I was one of the many suffering from dual monitor flicker on my 5850. However today I added a third monitor. And wouldn't you know it, the flicker is gone! I will admit I haven't done much searching around on this. But is this normal?

I already sold off one of my 5850's to get ready for a 69xx. But if the flicker is gone for good I might just pick up two more 5850's for the price of a 6970.
 
I would seriously recommend going with the 6000 series for eyefinity. The 5000 series had problems with crossfire eyefinity, which is why I waited for Fermi. I really wanted to buy 5870's and save some loot, but month after month and those scaling problems still existed with no help from driver updates.
 
I may just pick up another 5850 for kicks and see what happens with these new drivers. But I definitely need some more vram AA.

If you want more VRAM then why get another 5850? Sell what you have and get 1 or 2 6950s.
 
You're suggesting that adding another graphics card gives you more video memory. That's not how it works. Almost the opposite, in fact.

Nope not suggesting that at all. I am considering getting another 5850 because I need more gpu power for the higher resolution of three 1080p monitors. To play at acceptable frame rates, with AA maxed, one 6950 is going to have enough vram but probably not enough gpu power.

So, in theory, I would actually need to xfire two 6950's to play at a higher AA and have the frame rates I want. Selling what I have now and buying a single 6950 is not going to provide any improvement and may even lower performance. Unless I am able to overclock the card as much as my 5850.

I will probably end up getting a 6950 anyways. 58xx series isn't dead, but is pretty close to it.
