5870 Warm Boot issue

I have a pair of Sapphire 5870's in Crossfire. Whenever I restart the machine will post, but my video card doesn't output to the display (the system speaker beeps) and continues to load windows.. (HDD activity light flashs, and i'll get the windows failed to shut down properly screen... when I let the machine sit and cold boot again)

I've tried swaping out the PSU (new Seasonic X-750)
I've also hooked up my older display.. same thing.
Also if i use just a single 5870 it does the same thing.


Here's My spec's any ideas?

Core i7 920 (21x180) HT enabled 1.35 vcore
6Gb Patriot Memory @1440 7-7-7
Asus P6T V2
2x Sapphire 5870
2x Patriot M28 128Gb Raid 0 (Boot Drive)
2x Corsair P256 Raid 0 (Apps / Games Drive)
Seasonic X-750
Asus Xonar D2X
Windows 7 Home Premium 64

My 5850 doesn't like overclocking the PCI Express bus

You may have a similar problem

I would remove all overclocks first and put everything at default BIOS settings in your motherboard. You want to make sure that it works at standard speeds, voltages and timings and go from there. Make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed and the latest motherboard chipset drivers installed

If it works without overclock, you need to look at the different parts of the overclock and see which one causes the problem, by elimination

It still fails at stock speeds and settings, the same problem with either of the 5870, one at a time, then the problem is not the graphic card hardware

The next candidate would be video card drivers

The drivers part is easy to check, you may have done it already. Try both the December Catalysts and the December Hotfix, the hotfix includes some motherboard compatibility fixes

If you get the same problem with either card, with either PSU, with either drivers, you problem is related to the motherboard

Try memtest to make sure that it is not the DRAM. If the memory tests passes, replace the motherboard
