Is it worth waiting for one of these to maybe come back in stock somewhere? I heard the supply is really slim. I could have gotten one a couple of days back but I waited and now they're out of stock pretty much everywhere I look. Does the modified cooler make a huge difference or should I just buy a vanilla one? Thanks.

It depends on the price, value you see in it. I've seen the 5870 Vapor-X cards sell for $100 Cdn more than a regular 5870. Used one at at friends place and it was quiet under load, coming from someone who values a silent pc as well as being a bit cooler then reference design.
