5870 Setup Wrong or Broken?

I got an XFX 5870 about a week after christmas. Everything works 100% fine except unigine heaven DX11. Runs fine in DX10. ive reinstalled windows 7, tried various drivers. It goes through the loading process and at about 95% finished it just hangs.
Dirt2 came free with the card and runs fine... I was under the impression that it was running in DX11, but I dont know how to verify that.

So, what are the odds that the DX11 part of my card is busted and the rest of it 100% functional. I have had some of the grey screen issues, but that sounds like those are software fixable.
Is there any special way to configure DX11 to make it work or am I dealing with a busted card. The reason I went with this card in the first place was to have DX11 future proofing, as I plan on keeping the card for a while. Was kinda disappointed when I got this sick new card to play with and i didnt get any of the features in unigine (which was the one benchmark i knew how to force into DX11)

RMA is really my last option, as I'm a poor college kid that doesnt have much money for shipping, and I cant afford computer downtime for classes (i dont have my old 8800gt with me). Right now it seems like if its just busted DX11, I can wait til im done with school to RMA the thing (XFX has lifetime warranty right?)
 
I read in a different forum the the user fixed the issue of completing loading by 'enabling PNP in the BIOS' odd, but worth a try.

Did Win7 work before, but not now? was this after installing new drivers? Lotta information in your post but unclear on the chain of events.

I had an 8800gt running Win7. Everything was fine. except the 8800gt was really old. an evga KO edition that I forgot to register after buying directly from them, so no warranty.
Did the whole driver cleaner thing. got rid of all nvidia stuff.
Put in the new radeon 5870. Installed drivers. Win7 works fine. everything works fine except for DX11 unigine heaven (i have no idea whether or not dirt2 was running in DX11 or DX9)
Reinstall win7 - nothing changes
Try out different drivers - nothing changes.

it runs like a beast in everything except unigine. I'll try the PnP thing now. thanks

UPDATE: Maybe it was never broken. I loaded it up again (i always go min settings 640x480 with just tesselation on for a "fast" load) with "PnP OS" enabled in bios (was the only one i could find that even said PnP on it so i went with that one). I opened unigine, and it stopped at 5% (Not Responding on the top bar) for about 2 seconds. then went up to 95% and went to not responding.w hen i clicked ont he window it turned whited-out. I opened up task manager. low and behold its still dominating a full core. I open up firefox to come type up a "that didnt work" reply and after 90 seconds or so I hear music. I alt tab to it and it finished loading. Guess its just a slow loader. I dont think I ever let it load for that long before, so i dont know if it was related to the PnP thing, or just leaving it open. Thanks though

Someone yesterday commented that Windows 7 RC1 has 'issues' atm with the latest drivers from ATI and started having issues with them a couple weeks ago. He upgraded to the commercial version and the card started working again resolving issues he was having when the Heaven benchmark.

You commented your a poor college student. You wouldn't be a cheapo poor college student trying to strech every bit of life out of the RC client you can, would you ;) :). There's a chance that you may need to upgrade your copy of Win7 if your using Win7
 
That doesn't hold water, I'm a poor unemployed non-college student who's trying to get every last bit out of the RC for win 7, and mine runs flawlessly. Just sayin..
 
actually my college is an MSDN partner and I get win7 enterprise (release) for free under MSDNAA

Also, it seems that subsequent launches have taken less and less time. Its not quite the DX10 load time, but its no where near what it was. Its kinda odd.
Either way, its functioning now. Thanks for all the replies
