5870 Price?

I've been waiting patiently for the price of this card to drop but it's been $410 for the last 4+ months. Can anyone speculate when the price will drop?
 
IF the next nvidia release ever gets released.
and IF it is priced less than the 5870....or.... IF it's a better buy.
and IF,IF,IF...............

I doubt this card will be priced under MSRP for quite some time.
 
well I hate it that ATI is pulling this crap.
$259 for the 5850 and $379 for the 5870.
As you can see the 5870's are close to retail but the 5850's are a fing rip off.

AND don't give me the BS about supply and demand. They inflated the prices when they saw no
compatition from Nvidia.
When N gets their card out ATI will cut the prices and try to play hero and the poor co that wants only to help its customers.

I have used ATI 850 1800 and 4870 but if N would get out a card today I would buy it and tell AMD to go F themselves.

ATI does not sell the cards. They supply the chip and the engineering. The partners sell the cards and the retailers either follow the MSRP or jack the price.

Since the cards are hot, the price will be inflated.
 
I got my 5870 for like 350 last week...

I can hardly blame the retailers for making a profit. Would you sell something for less than you had to just to be a nice guy? Maybe here or there, but what if it was how you made your living? Do you tell your boss to keep that raise, because you really didn't have any competition in the office to prove you earned it?

If the card prices were to high, they wouldn't be selling like hotcakes. I just got my XFX for $350 as well. :)
 
The only game I plan on playing is BF2 BC2 which isn't even out yet. I'll just continue to wait another 6 months or so until this card is in the $200 range. :)
