Looking for some advice. I have a rig that does pretty much nothing but encode video lately. We have a huge DVD collection that is ripped (as VIDEO TS) to disk but it's become so large that it's a PITA to work with sometimes. I've been playing to different video formats lately to find something that is easier to work (specifically SMALLER file sizes) with while keeping video quality up. I've tried a few programs that seem to do the job nicely (handbrake, the new dvd fab, etc.) but I have so many to do that time is an issue.
Currently using an X6 1055t @ 3.5. It does a typical movie in decent quality in about 30 minutes. I have a spare 5850 that isn't being used really.
Would the 5850 do better than the X6? What do I need to do to utilize the 5850? Found the ATI avivo program but it doesn't recognize VIDEO TS folders making it fairly useless to me.
Would changing out the 5850 with a GTX 460 net me anything?
