I'm really happy with my 5850's in crossfire that I got around launch (more than a year ago!) and seeing that the GTX470 and 6870 (in SLI or Xfire) are either equal or slower, the GTX570 and 6950 are only a bit faster in single card configuration, and not worth upgrading to a multi-card setup of either. And I believe that a crossfied 5850 is faster than any single 6970 and GTX580. Having this performance for over a year is pretty bad-ass , the 5870 owners had is a bit better, but being that I bought these at launch (when they were $260), for $530 (the powercolor was $270), I've had GTX580/HD6970 performance for over a year...which is pretty sweet! Anybody else looking at the current landscape of videocards and thinking "My set ups going to be fine for much longer" . The last time I've felt that way was when I got my 9700Pro at launch, that card had legs, in fact I didn't see a point to upgrading till around the time the 7900GTX came out which was a long while. I feel that these set ups (while they haven't had it as long, GTX460SLI owners are in the same boat) will have similar legs and last as long. Anybody else feel that way?

5800's Xfire Owners thoughts....

so is a GTX460SLI, but it's not worth side-grading to that. Bear in mind I love my 6850 in my Media pc, but do not see it worth it "upgrading" to 6850 xfire from 5850 xfire for the novelty of slightly higher performance. Granted it's extremely impressive that you can find a 6850 for as low as $155 and get two of em to xfire for performance like the 6970 and GTX580. Heck, I got an Asus GTX460 768mb for $115(!) a while back and if I got two of them in SLI that would be close to GTX580 performance for only $230! So either you've had this level of performance for over a year, or got it relatively recently but extremely cheaply, it really is a great time to be a PC gamer!
doh, my bad...You know what? I looked at the prices of the 6950's....I've seen em as low as $280!!!! That's amazing, and would likely be a noticeable difference in xfire from the 5850's, not only that, but the larger frame buffer helps tremendously. When they go down to $200-ish I'd consider getting a set and selling the 58550's (or the 5770's and moving the 5850's to that machine). I have to say, the 6000 series of cards have been the most reasonably priced generation in ages. Granted the 6800's were starting to get price gouged, but the GTX570 and 6950/6970 fixed that.
