I'm impressed. Are they backorder, at the moment, or will they really ship tomorrow?
Huh, that is a little strange. Thanks!I believe that NDA lifts on the 13th. I'm surprised that Newegg has em up a day early.
And thank you!Review should air in an hour.
there are at least a couple of reviews up already. the 4890 is noticeably faster in almost every single case. even the 4870 beats it in plenty of cases. still a nice low power card for $159 though there is a large performance and price gap between the 5850 and 5770.Very nice. Brent_Justice alluded to 4890-level performance. If his review confirms this to be true, these cards = hot cakes. When will it post?

yes overall I would say its almost dead even with a 4870 even now. certainly no point in buying a 4870 at this point.Well it also has beta drivers. IF you include some performance increases with better drivers you basically have a direct x11 version of the 4870.
almost equal gaming wiseI wouldn't say it would be fair to call it an equal to 4870, the power savings and Bit Streaming are essential to HTPC's that game as well.

I never alluded to 4890 level performance. That was never the comparison.
He ALLUDED to this, but the reality (from early reviews) is that the card slightly trails a 4870 1GB. And since you can have a 4870 1GB for $150 or less, the $160 5770 doesn't look so compelling. Unless the power consumption and bit-streaming are critically important to you, the 5770 us a non-starter.
You'll know yourself in 5 minutes.
yeah that will come out around the same time the 512bit 5870 does. All the news sites say the 5770 is the new 4870. Killer price at $160! I might wait for a 256bit version!

If Fudzilla's guess of 60% performance boost over the HD 4770 is in the ballpark, then the HD 5770 should be a little slower than the HD 4870. However, the price point will determine if this will be a good bang for your buck. If set too high, then there you might as well step up to the HD 5850.
Price wise, I would think that it will priced between the HD 4870 and HD 4890. That's primarily due to HD 4870-ish performance with a significant decrease in power consumption.
^ those performance estimates are low
I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised
How, exactly? The 5770 has, from what I've read, a 128-bit bus. Unless we see a serious increase in GDDR5 memory speeds (e.g. like the 1.2 GHz speed on the 5870), the card will be bandwidth-constrained at 4890+ speeds.
Since I doubt they'll waste top-end DDR5 memory on a midrange card, I foresee maybe 1GHz tops. About the only thing we can hope for is 4870 speeds.
I don't even know how to respond anymore to this idea that the memory bit depth is so important, like that one spec makes or breaks the card, or holds any real value now that GDDR5 is in use. Perhaps it is ignorance? I don't know, hopefully I can make it clear again in my article (which I've done in so many past articles). I feel like I'm repeating myself over and over and over and over and over.
