So I'm picking up the last part of my rig this weekend... And I'm torn between the XFX 5770 and XFX 4890 (the best two in my price range AFAIK) but I haven't seen any benches for 1440x900. Anyone have an opinion?

I will also be looking to upgrade my monitor within a year to something around 25" at 1920x1200, at which point I will probably get another of whatever card I get to crossfire so that will matter also.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

those will both eat everything up at that res, just pick one and off you go. take the least expensive one. a 4870 would even be plenty

The 4890 will be better in the short term. It comes down to DX11. Is that going to be a benefit for the games you play or will be playing? Either of those cards will destroy 1440x900 and will hold their own at 1920x1080 with current games.

I run a 5770 with a Samsung 932BW 1440x900 LCD, and it runs fine. It's definitely faster then my overclocked 3870 toxic card.

If your going to run CrossFire down the road, I would go with the 5770. It will scale the same or maybe better with drivers, and use less power then the 4890.

If you are definitely planning on Crossfire when you upgrade your monitor, pick up a 5770. The 4890s are being phased out and it may be difficult to find one down the road. Plus, two 5770s in Crossfire will handle 1920x1200 just fine and you'll have DX11 and Eyefinity.

I'd go with a 5750. Price/perf is better than 5770 and it has the perf/watt of 40nm. (it's possible to OC 5750 to 5770 levels if you want)
