is it normal for the core+memory clocks to vary between idle and load? currently running a saphire 5770 vapor-x and when it's idle it likes to rest at 157 core/300 memory, under any load it's up at my OC speeds of 960 core/1445 memory. I'm still new to monitoring and OCing my system so any input on the matter is helpful.

I also know that there was a bios problem with the saphire cards, but gpu-z says that the card currently has access to the full 800 shaders (was shipped out early this month from newegg so I'm hoping this is a card with fixed bios). should I trust this or flash the bios any way?

Yes, it's normal for the card to throttle down at the desktop when it's in 2D mode. Not sure about the bios issue.

yeah if gpu-z is showing 800 you should be fine. Hope you like the card cuz im loving mines!

yeah, finally finished stabilizing my system OC and it's doing great. only pushing Dx9 atm, but I plan to transfer the card to a new build if I'm strapped for cash (like always), lol.

the only prob I'm having is that it's encountering substantial lag in some areas of one of my games that my old 8600gts(s) in sli set up didn't, which is understandable 'cause since it's an older game I'm forcing super-sampling with an overly high resolution.
