Working on a spec for a video wall system at an Art College, the system will be playing back 5760x1080 video and that will be interactive via a Microsoft Kinect array. The data crunching for the kinects is pretty CPU intensive so the hope is to offload most of the video decoding to the GPU. Has anyone run this type of resolution video in an eyefinity setup? Probably going to go with 2x 6990's and a EVGA SR-2 with 2 X5650 Westmere Xeons.

Also, any clue if a Corsair AX 1200W will handle all of that... plus 4 HDD, 1 SSD, 2-3 PCI-E USB 3.0 cards?

I wasn't aware that video would be decoded on 4 seperate GPU's. I'd be surprised. I don't think the amount of GPU's would affect decoding performance. You say decoding, are you running an interactive program or is it actually a video? In which case how is it interactive?

Artists involved aren't completely sure what the final product will look like. Sounds like the Kinect's will be used to allow gestural control over all or portions of the video wall, and potetially also use depth data to affect the video in other ways. They might go really overboard given the kinect's will be giving them all this 3D data to work with.

Given the hodge-podge of different open source tools, drivers, and custom software this might all end up an glorious mess but they've got a couple competent programmers coming in who can hopefully make things happen.

I've only become involved, they had originally requested a 12-core Mac Pro with a Matrox TripleHead2Go, but as the programmers are more familiar in the PC environment they've asked me to spec a similarly powerful PC (or likely more powerful as the budget should go further). At this point I'm just trying to put as much power into the system as the budget will bear, been debating if gaming cards or Quadro's are the way to go.
