570, or 6950 + new case?

Hey all, I've got a bit of a conundrum at the moment. I have a Cooler Master Storm Scout that I absolutely love...I know eventually I'll have to swap it out, but I'd prefer to hold onto him for at least a little while longer. The problem is if I go with a 6950, I'll have to get a new case (the Storm Scout can only take cards up to 10.6", based on my measurements.) The other option would be to get a 570, since it will perform better, fit my current case, and would technically be cheaper than a 6950 + new case. Thoughts? I'm looking to pick up the new card in January.


tl;dr: Pick up a 570 for around $350 or pick up a 6950 and new case for around $400?

Please note that I only upgrade my video card every 2-4 years, and have zero intention on going multi-monitor (things are screwy enough with PC gaming, no need to make it even worse:p) so the "well if it's too short now..."/"future eyefinity?" lines of thinking don't really apply here. Thanks for your time!

That's the way I'm leaning, but figured I would ask here first. Never served me wrong before :)
 
The 6950 is 10.5" IIRC from the [H] review. Also, the power connectors are on top the card, so although it would be tight, I think it should fit. Also, the 6950 draws a fair bit less power than the 570.

Odd...I recall seeing someone say they couldn't get a 6950 in there...more investigation time!
 
My xfx 6950 from outside bracket to end of card is 10.78 inches. I love the 6950 but for you the 570 would be what I recommend.

Current 6950's are simply BIOS-locked 6970's - plenty of folks out there are unlocking them this way. Besides, the 69xx cards have dual BIOS so you can flip a switch in the unlikely event of a bad flash. I might add I've never had a flash go wrong on a motherboard or graphics card.
 
Buy the 6950 and unlock it , it will be faster than the gtx 570 and use less power. Get a new case and be happy.
