I'm considering getting a second 560 to SLI but am a bit concerned about the 1gb vram. I only game at 1080 but seems like vram is becoming more of a big deal. At least with BF3 using as much vram as it can get.

So what do you guys think? Should I get a second 560 or just go with a 580 and try to sell my 560?

Everyone on this forum will tell you to wait, the 7900 series from AMD will play a big effect on prices.

Well, I'm fine waiting a little bit, would be nice to see prices fall. But still not sure if I should worry too much about the 1gb vram or if it would be more worth it to go with something that has more vram and get rid of this 560.

I would probably wait and just get a new card. in some games, 1gb is certainly a limitation at the settings a gtx560 sli setup could run.

btw what does the rest of your pc look like?

I suppose I should put it in my sig, I've got:

i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
16gb of Corsair Vengeance (my machine also serves as a Hyper-V lab, not just for gaming)
120gb OCZ Agility 2 for the OS
Corsair HX850W (had planned on going SLI when I built it so I went a little bit overkill on the PSU)

I was also about to purchase a GTX 560 today, but decided to wait for what AMD has to offer in the next few days. I'm in no rush so it's perfect!

I bought a second 560 Ti for SLI a few months back. It chews through BF3 @ 1080p with no problems... until you enable 3D. Then it's a slide show. I still need to tweak it. Overall I'm excessively happy with it, for the money.

you cant smoothly run Ultra settings with 4x MSSA though because it will run at of vram.

For myself, if I try to run BF3 on ultra I get artifacts on maps such as Caspian and Firestorm. After much research it seems to be vram related.

You guys may be right. I run with some of the settings on high. Can't really tell a difference, honestly. Shadow quality is the thing that matters most to me in terms of visual quality (I hate blocky shadows) but I can easily run that on Ultra.
