I've got all my parts except the CPU, CPU Cooler & Fans & Paste.

What's the best paste nowdays ?

Not planning to OC much so don't want to go crazy, the goal is SILENT.

3770 or 3770k = CPU *Waiting to be able to order, whichever I can get*

Case: 550D

Cooler ? H60? H80? H100?
Which fans? Noctua ?

What can I fit, and cool with sufficiently to NOT require tons of fans, and stay as close to silent as possible.

Thanks :D

I went with a thermalright TS140. It retails for $40 but the only place i could find was amazon where it was $52 shipped. Not bad when it can hang with coolers that are $80+

PS: not sure about the case fitting. Just a suggestion to look into

maybe look for coolers with PWM or use PWM fans or fan controller with the models you mentioned.

If you buy a Hydro series cooler, the stock paste is as good or better than anything you can buy aftermarket.

Thanks, the 120 looks nice.

I just wonder if it would fit with my Crucial Ballistix Elite Ram  on this mobo.

I'm currently going for the same build, and I'm going all Noctua. I'll stick 140mm fans to the bottom and exhaust, and use 120mm fans on the front intake.

But I'm not sure what to use in the front... NF-F12 PWM or the regular P12 PWM. Anyone?

NF-F12 is probably preferable due to higher static pressure. I'm holding out on buying my bottom and top fans in hopes of a 140mm F series fan.

Aha, thanks. I think I'll go with their 140mm for the bottom intake and rear exhaust. But I heard mention of Noctua releasing a PWM version of the 140mm fan coming out shortly... but I want to order all the stuff in June so I'm not sure if I can wait too long. You heard of anything like this?

I got my 550D yesterday, and have installed the H100 on my 3770K system that I mostly built today :)

Z77 Sabertooth. Nice. I like that they rotated the USB 3 header 90 degrees so you don't have it sticking straight up. Much better that way.

I just can't get into those Sabretooth boards. I can't stand the armor on it.

The H100 just plug and play pretty much with the 550D ?

If that's the case, that's the route I`ll probably go.

It's PnP with all Corsair cases. I've got a 400R and it'll bolt right in with zero problems if I choose to ever go WC'ing.

Good to know.

I think I`m going to go with a H60 on rear of case for this build since it won't see much OC if any.

Anyone else running the H60 on the 3770K yet ?

Ended up ordering the True Spirit 140.

What paste would you guys suggest ? The stuff I have is 5+ years old, and I`m sure there's better :D :D

As soon as my IB comes in, I'll be using some of this nanodiamond stuff. I've read and heard pretty good things about it. In reality, they're likely to all perform within a few C of each other, so if you don't want to shell out a lot, go with the cheap stuff.

Yea, H100 (or H60/80) are pretty much drop in to the Corsair cases. I'm using one in a 650D that I bought a few weeks before the 550Ds were announced.

If I had to do it all over again, I probably would've gone with a 550D.

If it comes with Chill Factor 3 then use that, it's very good.
