5502 xeon (nehlaem)

no HT, no turbo, and a crappy clock speed. Whats the point?

What's the point in getting the dual core when the faster (1.86 vs 2.0) quad is only $30 more? They're also both listed as 80W so you can't even throw out the green arguement (haha).
 
and no HT, right? I was surprised they did that on some of the new i7 Xeons, disabling HT.
 
The Dual Core might be fun if it had an unlocked multi but as is, I'd avoid it.

With a locked multi of 14 and with most boards struggling to get a BCLK over 220 MHz, that isn't going to equal much fun. A Core i7 - 920 with HT and Turbo Boost for only a few dollars more makes a lot more sense.

If you want a Dual Core you'd be a lot better off getting something like an E8500 - E0 for under $200 bucks which has no problem overclocking to well over 4 GHz on a cheaper board.
