yes it will work, I did some research and found this machine has an Intel 845 chipset supporting AGP4x; just so you know your system uses DDR SDRAM, not rambus (this would be a good thing, that 4400 is slow enough to work good with PC2100 memory which is alot cheaper and easier to find than Rambus......)
 
FX 5200, 5500, 5600's all sucked. The 5700's were barely ok, and the 5900's were decent.

Nvidia 6200 AGP. I scored about 8200 on 3dMark2001 with the Asus 64-bit (slower) version of it. My brother had tried out an fx5500 in his computer and he dropped from about 10,000 (with his ti4200) in 3dmark2001 to I think about half of that score with the 5500. So he promptly returned it and reinstalled his trusty ti4200!!

Point is... skip the low-end FX 5_00 series. The high-end ti 4_00 or low-end 6_00 series are much better.
