My second hard drive is going bad on an HP dv7 laptop. HP mailed the wrong replacement hard drive. I mainly use this second drive for watching dvd video. HP says I can send it back and get the 320 gb 7200 rpm drive that originally came with the laptop. Or, I can keep the 5400 rpm 500 gb drive. The trade-off is speed vs capacity. The first hard drive is doing fine (it is another 320 gb 7200 rpm drive and of course it has the OS, win7).

Which hard drive would you keep in this situation?

Do you know who the hard drive manufacturers are? Also, what do you use your machine primarily for?

I do not know who the drive manufacturers are. The PC is primarily used for word processing, internet, audio and video editing, and viewing dvd video

Are you close to using all of the 500GB? IF so, stay with it. If not, then get the 7200RPM, as video editing can be heavy on I/O, and the faster drive might make it a bit quicker.
