Should I pay $539 for the 1900xtx at CompUSA this week...or wait for the price to go cheaper? I hate paying $500+ for a card, only to have it drop by a hundred bucks in a month or two.

not with the current cooler on it. they need to upgrade the stock or you need to roll a zalman cooler into the price b/c it's too DAMN LOUD!!

who says you HAVE to do it again in a month or two? 1900xtx is arguably the baddest card right now especially for high res and high quality settings.

Yes something is probably going to come out soon, but something is ALWAYS going to come out soon thats better than what is out now. Thats just the way things work. You get the best at the time and enjoy it, and it you feel you need the next newest best thing, you get that too if you can justify the cost to yourself.

For ATI hgih end cards, I don't think there is a better deal than what Newegg is running on the Powercolor x1900xt's right now. I got my retail box shipped for $444. So far so good. This thing easily overclocks to xtx speeds, and it was 100 bucks cheaper than an xtx. Besides that, the XTX is only 25mhz:core and 100mhz:mem faster at stock settings. A lot, if not most, of XT's have the same 1.1ns DDR3 modules.

Save some green and get the XT man.

I'm now running my XTX here I bought on Monday on a Radeon Xpress 200 chipset.

Pics of my new shit here... ---> http://psykomantis.com/nuke/html/modules/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=2270

All I can say is that I'm VERY happy with my purchase.
In all honesty the press really goes overboard on how supposidly loud the cooler is for the x1900xtx. I had a 6800GT in my box before, and I'm only noticing the system a bit louder if anything. With my current speaker setup or using headphones it really does not matter to me.

Pretty much now I'm enjoying 2048X1536 gaming on BF2, CSS, DODS.
All my other games I run around 1600X1200 BFME2, NFSU, FEAR, Q4, etc.
Above mentioned titles all have 16X AF and 2X AA.
I really don't think I really need the 2XAA at those resolutions if you ask me. Jaggies are almost if anything NON EXISTANT.

Yeah I paid the extra cash for the XTX but you know what? I'm happy I did.
Plus I'm very curious to see what dividends I will reap with Crossfire.

I do regret not buying the crossfire master although.
I say go for it and be happy you did.
:D

P.s. the chopped up finger was a run in accident with the processor cooler running over 5500RPM... OUCH!

Well, if you're committed to buying only at CompUSA, then you can be pretty sure the price there won't drop in the next month or two. Heck, they're still selling the X800XL for $350!

If you're open to buying online, then I don't think the price for the 1900XTX is going to drop that much in the near future but IMHO, I think it depends on whether the market decides that the competition for the 1900XTX is the 7900GTX. If it does, then prices between the two cards are pretty comparable right now and I don't think it will drop much. However, the difference between the 1900XTX and 1900XT is so slight that it may be that a lot of people will treat the 1900XT as the "real" competition for the 7900GTX. If that happens, then Nvidia may be forced to reduce prices because right now, the 1900XT is $100 cheaper than the 790GTX. In turn, ATI may reduce the suggested price on the 1900XTX but I think it's more likely it would maintain the price, keeping the 1900XTX as a high margin product for those folks who have to have the fastest card out of the box.

Bottom line: get the 1900XT, not the 1900XTX.

Here's what happened with me. I ordered the 1900XT from newegg a couple weeks ago for $540. It turned out to be defective so I returned it for a refund without restocking fee and I reordered it again. In the two weeks that passed between the two orders, the price of the 1900XT dropped to $435 so I basically got back $100! Thank you poor quality control! :)
