5200Ultra vs. 9600SE

9600 SE by far. 5200's suck ass (period). nothing good about them at ALL. i see you have my name in your signature :)

The 5200ultra will annihilate the 9600SE. The 9600SE only has a 64bit memory bus which is a major no no for gaming.

the 9000 is a crippled 8500, the 5200 beats it cleanly. (there is a review here on [H] stating that the 5200 trounces the 9200. I would recommend a geforce 4 ti4200

They both suck.

The Radeon 8500 or a TI 4200-4600 would be a better choice if don't plan on playing DX9 games.

Well, I don't really have a budget. I am torn between getting the 9800Pro for $211 or getting a card for $100 so that I can buy a mountain bike that I want. :(

My friend has this system, and it plays Halo just fine at a res. of 640x480 and at almost all video settings at high...

P4 2.66ghz
1gb RAM
5200Ultra
And it is a dell! :(

Those settings are almost good enough for me. That is why I'm torn between a $200 or a $100.

Then I was thinking...
A 9800Pro will probably not have to be upgraded for a good year and half (I hope). By that time hopefully A64 will be down in price and I can upgrade to PCI-Express.

Well now that I have told you my very long and boring story, what do you suggest?

thanks

I tell you what you do. Get the cheap card that can't run any pretty settings and buy the mountain bike. Then when you're out riding, notice the great 48xAA and the 128xAF settings in the scenery.

No, that's good advice. I'm fairly comfortable spending $200 on a video card. Once, I splurged and got the top-end (9800 Pro, like, week it came out) for...I dunno, what was it, $400? More? Dunno.

Anyway, I could just NOT *EVER* be happy with the card. Nothing to do with performance - in fact, I'm lining up to buy another 9800 Pro now....it's just that $400 was, for me, too much money to put in one place.

At the time I traded the card off relatively quickly on these forums for cash to buy a digital camera and a Radeon 9600 Pro, instead.

Seriously, you know what you are okay with spending given your other expenses....just buy what fits.

(Oh, and if you ARE thinking sub-$100....yeah, got for the Ti4200. That will be the fastest in the catagory and spanks a 5200 Ultra nicely)

4200 + bike, good gaming/OCing card and you get your bike.

Or hell, get a cheaper bike plus a 9600 pro :D (I'm sure u could find a good bike for less..
